A short flight from Miami and Fort Lauderdale, Excellence Punta Cana and Excellence el Carmen Resorts are situated in the Uvero Alto region on the eastern coast of the Dominican Republic, only 35-40 minutes from Punta Cana International Airport. The properties are nestled in a very quiet environment surrounded by Palm Trees and idyllic beaches. Each with a style of their own, they are just minutes away from each other and both are excellent! EXCELLENCE EL CARMEN
Modern yet sophisticated, this grand property of 492 suites offers contemporary luxury with a Caribbean feel.
ADULTS-ONLY, ALL-SUITES
The wonderful perk of this all-adult property is that it’s an all-suite resort. The oversized suites with jacuzzi tubs in modern chic décor come in options like swim- ups, suites with private pools, and suites with grand rooftop terraces.
If you want to go all out, the Excellence Club two-story Rooftop Terrace Suite with Plunge Pool Ocean View is just stunning.
If you feel like splurging a little, then you should consider the Excellence Club, which offers additional benefits such as a roped-off beach area. You’ll also have more premium amenities and alcohol available to you in your room, as well as fresh fruit, flowers, and even my favorite—Bvlgari toiletries.
Relax. I was very impressed with the Miilé Spa experience, as they have one an outstanding hydrotherapy circuit called Aqua Wellness Included with the Excellence Club upgrade, the treatment is then followed by a soothing upper body massage.
Let’s talk food. If you love food, there are twelve restaurants featuring a range of international cuisine and sixteen bars. Their skybar is a gorgeous area with majestic views overlooking the beach great for sipping a delicious “Coco Loco.”
The gastronomy here is “excelente.” You can choose from Italian, French, Asian, Indian, Mexican, Steak, Lobster and beachside grills, and each meal is filled with delicious allinclusive cocktails, wine and champagne. Too many options in a few days to try them all, but “Spice” a teppanyaki grillstyle restaurant with a side of show is a must. You can also set up a romantic beach dinner (you can set this up with your concierge on arrival or ahead of time).
Resort Gym. Those driven few that like to stay fit on vacation (or work off all of those margaritas), they are complete. Oh, and I forgot to mention the twenty-three pools!
EXCELLENCE PUNTA CANA
This vibrant resort of 461 suites has a more tropical feel with lovely gardens and was one of the first in the area. It has many repeat clients, and has been around since 2001, but underwent a $45-million-dollar renovation in 2017. It can be described as classic laidback sophistication with beautiful grounds including a small park with a pond and lovely pink flamingoes. They have great reviews on their staff as they have impeccable service, and a cute side note; they always say they are “Excelente”! (Excellent) and in a great mood to serve guests.
There are many different room options so you can upgrade to oceanfront or the honeymoon suites, which are complete with pool terraces and sweeping ocean views, as well as the “swim up suites” which have direct pool access right from your deck.
As in Excellence Carmen, if you upgrade to the Excellence Club, you’ll have more premium amenities and alcohol available to you in the room, and extra luxury bells and whistles.
Their spa is an oasis and an epic experience: I recommend the Hydrotherapy pool with highpressure water hoses, Swedish sauna, Aromatic Steam bath, Swan shower, Ice room, sensations shower, Scottish shower, Rustic and Mist showers and must be followed by a couples or beachfront massage!
The dining experience here just like at Excellence el Carmen is amazing and so are the shows, very vibrant–from Brazilian Carnival to Circusstyle, and Madonna to Michael Jackson. The entertainment is Vegas-style and featuring highly talented professionals.
Sports enthusiast will enjoy the diversity of sports–beach volleyball, tennis, dancing and scuba diving lessons.
My favorite: simply kick back and relax beachside or poolside, or find your inner peace during a yoga class by the beach.

A un corto vuelo de Miami y Fort Lauderdale, los resorts Excellence Punta Cana y Excellence el Carmen se encuentran en la región de Uvero Alto, en la costa este de la República Dominicana. A solo entre 35-40 minutos del Aeropuerto Internacional de Punta Cana, se encuentran en un área muy tranquila rodeada de palmeras y playas idílicas. Cada uno con un estilo propio. SOLO PARA ADULTOS, TODOS CON SUITES
La gran ventaja de esta propiedad para adultos es que es un complejo de suites. Las suites son de gran tamaño con bañeras de hidromasaje en una decoración moderna y elegante y vienen en opciones con piscinas privadas y suites con grandes terrazas en la azotea.
La suite de dos pisos del Excellence Club con terraza y vista al mar es simplemente impresionante.
Aunque tiene un costo adicional, El Excellence Club ofrece muchos beneficios, como un área de playa privada. También tendrá más comodidades de primera calidad y alcohol disponible en su habitación, así como fruta fresca, flores e incluso mi favorito: productos de baño de la renombrada marca Bvlgari.
Relajarse. Me quedé muy impresionada con la experiencia de Miilé Spa, ya que tienen un circuito de hidroterapia excepcional llamado Aqua Wellness. Es un tratamiento corporal previo a un relajante masaje.
Los amantes de la gastronomía serán felices porque hay 12 restaurantes que ofrecen una variedad de cocina internacional y 16 bares. Su skybar es precioso con vistas majestuosas a la playa, ideal para disfrutar de un delicioso y típico coctel “Coco Loco”.
La gastronomía aquí es excelente. Puede elegir entre restaurantes italianos, franceses, asiáticos, indios, mexicanos, o disfrutar con la vista al mar. Demasiadas opciones en pocos días para probarlas todas, pero el Spice, al estilo teppanyaki es imprescindible y divertido. También puede organizar una cena romántica en la playa (puede hablarlo con su conserje a la llegada o con anticipación).
El Gimnasio: Los pocos que les gusta mantenerse en forma en vacaciones (o quieren bajar todas esas margaritas), cuentan con uno muy bueno aquí. ¡Ah, y olvidé mencionar las veintitrés piscinas!
EXCELLENCE PUNTA CANA
Este vibrante complejo de 461 suites tiene un ambiente más tropical con hermosos jardines y fue uno de los primeros en la zona. Tienen muchos clientes que regresan y existe desde 2001, pero tuvo una renovación de 45 millones de dólares en el 2017. Se puede describir como un hotel de lujo clásico y relajado con un hermoso terreno que incluye un pequeño parque con un estanque y preciosos flamencos rosados. Tienen excelentes reseñas de su personal, ya que tienen un servicio impecable, y siempre dicen que están “Excelente”. Su buen humor y disposición para servir a los huespedes son único.
Hay muchas opciones de habitaciones diferentes como al frente del océano o las suites de luna de miel, que se completan con terrazas de la piscina y vistas panorámicas del océano, así como las “suites con piscina propia” que tienen acceso directo a la piscina desde su cubierta.
Al igual que en Excellence El Carmen, si eliges reservar en el Excellence Club, tendrás a tu disposición más comodidades, mejores opciones de alcohol y otras adiciones de primera calidad.
El spa es un oasis y una experiencia épica: piscina de hidroterapia con mangueras de agua a alta presión, sauna sueco, baño de vapor aromático, ducha de cisne, sala de hielo, ducha de sensaciones, ducha escocesa, duchas rústicas y de niebla. Todo esto podría terminar con un masaje individual o en pareja frente al mar.!No se lo pierdan!
