Ayurveda considera el sueño como uno de los pilares de la buena salud. Nuestro ritmointerior de sueño debe estar en armonía con los ritmos de la naturaleza, específicamentecon la luz del día. El insomnio (anidra) es el resultado de desequilibrio del DoshaVata en el cuerpo. Asimismo, el desequilibrio de los otros doshas puede causar faltade oxigenación de las células del cerebro y aumento de la sensibilidad del sistemanervioso. Si estás experimentando dificultad para dormir en la noche; te despiertasconstantemente; te cuesta trabajo volverte a dormir; te levantas demasiado temprano;o te sientes demasiado cansado al ir al trabajo; sin duda alguna sufres de cierto gradode insomnio.
Algunas de sus causas incluyen: Exceso de trabajo o de pensamientos; tener unadieta inapropiada y un estilo de vida errático; tomar demasiado café; trabajar en lacomputadora tarde por la noche; no tener un horario constante de comidas; ir a la camatarde; comer exceso de alimentos fríos y secos; o reprimir las emociones.
Para aliviar los síntomas del insomnio, Ayurveda recomienda enfocarse en balancearlos desequilibrios en el cuerpo a través de suplementos herbales (como brahmi oraíz de cálamo), una dieta personalizada y un estilo de vida apropiado. Además, larelajación mental juega un rol muy importante. Meditación, ejercicios de respiracióny algunas posturas de Yoga pueden ser de gran ayuda.

Algunos remedios caseros incluyen:

“¢ Beber un vaso de leche entera tibia con cardamomo en polvo antes de dormir.
“¢ Antes de acostarse, poner dos gotas de aceite de mostaza en cada oído y taparlos conuna bolita de algodón. Removerlos al despertar.
“¢ Tomar 3 cucharaditas de jugo de cilantro con 1 cucharadita de miel dos veces al día.
“¢ Darse un masaje de cabeza con aceite tibio antes de ir a la cama.
“¢ Tomar una cucharadita de raíz de regaliz en polvo con un vaso de leche cada mañanaen ayunas.

If you have beenexperiencing difficulty falling asleep at night; you are waking up often; havedifficulty going back to sleep; you wake up too early or feel too tired to work,there is no doubt you are suffering from insomnia.
Causes of insomnia include: Exerting yourself too much or thinkingunnecessarily; following a faulty diet and erratic lifestyle; drinking too muchcoffee; working late on your computer; taking meals at irregular intervals;sleeping late at night; eating a lot of cold and dry foods; or suppressing youremotions.
The Ayurvedic recommendations focus on balancing the aggravated bodyenergies through herbal supplements (such as brahmi or calamus root), acustomized diet and a personalized lifestyle plan. Additionally, relaxation ofthe mind also plays a very important role. Breathing exercises and certain yoga poses can be of great aid.
Some recommended home remedies include:
“¢ Drink a glass of warm whole milk with green cardamom powder before goingto bed.
“¢ Before going to bed, put 2 drops of warm mustard oil in each ear and plug theears with cotton balls. Remove them when you wake up in the morning.
“¢ Have 15 ml juice of green coriander with 1 teaspoon of honey twice a day.
“¢ Have a head massage with lukewarm oil before going to bed.
“¢ Have 1 teaspoon of licorice root powder with a glass of milk on an emptystomach in the morning.
