Jim Carr joined forces with prominent developer Armando Codina in 2008 when they founded CC Homes with the goal of providing families with high quality new homes in desirable locations. Carr, who has also been President of the Builders Association of South Florida, has received numerous awards related to the industry and in 2016 CC Homes was honored by the Latin Builder Association as the best builder of the year. Under his leadership are more than 50 communities and 15,000 homes from Homestead to Jacksonville, its most notable include Monterra in Cooper City, Bonterra in Hialeah, The Residences of Sawgrass Mills and The Townhomes in Downtown Doral. The communities currently under construction by Carr and in partnership with Codina, include Canarias in Downtown Doral, Chateaux in Parkland, Maple Ridge in Ave Maria, Fronterra in Naples, as well as several other rental projects in process. Prior to this, Carr founded and directed Westbrooke Communities, Inc., a land development and residential housing construction company, which sold approximately 500 homes annually.
Q & A with Jim Carr:
-You’re a master and a visionary in the real estate development market with a 40year track record, what is your secret to success?
Understanding the needs and wants of prospective homebuyers has been one of the most important factors for me. I listen to what home buyers are looking for and work to not only meet their needs but to exceed their expectations. Staying ahead of the latest technology and innovation for construction and home design is also very important and why many of our customers choose to buy from us again and again. We have several homeowners who we know very well, who bought their first home with us and then moved into their second home with us again.
-After bringing more than 50 communities to the Florida landscape, what would you consider is your most outstanding project and why?
Canarias at Downtown Doral is our flagship community. I’ve spent decades scouring the country for inspiration on what makes a fantastic community and Canarias really hits all the marks of what home buyers are looking for today. It’s a divine combination of location and luxury, where every aspect of a homeowner’s daily life is levels above what they would experience elsewhere and everything, from your child’s school and the grocery to parks and the gym, is all a short walk from your home. Much of this is thanks to the incredible work my partner Armando Codina is doing for Downtown Doral.
I also take a great amount of pride in all of our past and present communities, as does my team, many of whom have been with me from the very beginning.
-Tell us how you met high profile developer Armando Codina your partner in CC Homes?
It was on a fishing trip decades ago. We’re not just business partners, we’re very close friends, and that’s why we work so well together.
-Why do you think Doral has become such a popular residence for the Hispanic buyers?
Doral has become a worldwide destination, with dozens of exquisite restaurants and entertainment
venues where Latin culture thrives. Doral also has a number of hard-to-come-by green spaces where you can take advantage of South Florida’s incredible climate, walking your dog or exercising, or getting in a round of golf. And most important of all, Doral is extremely family friendly.
The schools are terrific…in Downtown Doral we have a phenomenal charter school, where tuition is free and Canarias at Downtown Doral residents receive preferred access. Most of the schools in the area offer a bilingual curriculum. Doral is also an incredible place to live, because so many people work in the area.
-What are some of the unique features/designer finishing of your recent project Canarias at Downtown Doral?
Canarias homes are modern but also very warm and functional. It’s all in the details. We are offering many upscale standard features which our buyers have been extremely happy with such as Subzero and Wolf appliances, gas-range cooktops, quartz countertops and imported Italkraft cabinetry, statement freestanding Kohler bathtubs, stainless steel stair hand rails, and that’s just to name a few. Our buyers have a wide variety of choices offered to
them. For example, we have dozens of floor plans they can choose from and our Design Studio is filled with custom options of the latest trends and materials.
