Many of us are so wrapped up in our daily lives that we find rare moments to relax, disconnect and enjoy selfcare. Finding places and activities that promote well-being and healthy habits can be a path to a healthier, happier life.
Maribel Morales, owner of Anahata Retreat & Spa, recently opened a beautiful boutique hotel in the mystical mountains of Colombia offering visitors an opportunity to recharge and renew.
After going through a life-threatening health problem, this high-powered businesswoman knew that it was time for a major life change. In her search for ways to better her health naturally, she discovered Ayruvedic medicine, which literally transformed her life. Morales and her lovely family are dedicated to helping others achieve true health and happiness.
“When we burden ourselves with worries and make our body sick, it is our mission to heal it through positive thoughts and other tools of Ayurvedic medicine,” says Morales who says this has been used in India for more than 5,000 years. Therapies using massage, meditation, yoga, dietary changes, as well as the use of herbal remedies can transform your health.
Anahata offers a place to “level energy, free yourself from blockages and “find your happiness through Ayurvedic relaxing activities,” says Morales.
The retreat is located in the midst of a paradisiacal peaceful landscape Quimbaya is a town and municipality in the western part of the department of Quindío, Colombia in a nature reserve called La Guajira.
Upon arrival at this beautiful hotel offering majestic views, you will receive an Abhyanga massage, originally from India, designed to remove toxins and promote circulation, then you will enjoy a meditation with quartz bowls to unblock the chakras, teaching guest that they are beings of energy. Another activity of the hotel is the “teatime” where organic snacks are offered. You can also enjoy their jacuzzi with the view of a stunning natural landscape.
The hotel also offers excursions to the river, nature walks, a boat ride to a natural waterfall, visits to the Quimbaya indigenous people, culminating the activities with a Turkish bath in the hotel’s hammam.
Morales is certified in meditation by Dr. Deepak Chopra and says that she has a gift for identifying people’s problems and the aspects that are blocking their happiness.
Anahata, a name full of love
Anahata Hotel owes its name to the heart chakra, related to love, family, and forgiveness. Morales currently has a pacemaker, and her husband suffered a heart attack, so she understands the greatness of this organ.
Morales traveled to India four times and managed to heal her body, she understood the importance of healthy eating, Ayurvedic massages and control of emotions to improve her life.
“Being happy is a decision and it’s up to us to prevent emotional toxins from invading us,” she says.
Her visits to India were transformational. After being fascinated by the Himalayas, she said that the mountains of Quindío reminded her of that magical place and decided that it would be the perfect place to create an Ayurvedic retreat.
At Anahata, they serve organic food from its own greenhouse, excluding wheat flour, sugar, and butter in the diet. In addition, there are oils and other natural products from the Peruvian Sacha Inchi seed, which contains 94% Omega 3, consuming it lowers cholesterol and improves concentration.
Retreats are offered from Thursday to Sunday and for a whole week, to achieve an awakening of consciousness and reconnection with life. Many visitors feel renewed, with a better version of themselves achieving a balance between body, mind, and spirit. Morales can also provide virtual assistance to visitors after the retreat.
