You can actually walk or bike to Lincoln Road’s fun shopping mall, to a number of museums and some of the trendiest restaurants in South Florida.
This boutique-style hotel, which offers Hilton Honors benefits, has just redesigned and reimagined their offering. Lovely outdoor spaces overlooking the pool and canal are great for a little R & R or digital detox. If you want to bask on the beach, you can be picked up in a custom SoBe Tuk-Tuk that transports you to private beach chairs and towels on a more quiet side of this area’s world-famous beaches.
The Gates, originally the Ankara Motel, collaborated with awardingwinning architects and lighting designers to transform the hotel while maintaining the overall Art Deco inspired architecture. It has a modern feel with vintage glamour. Their grounds, entrance, lobby bar and lounge, and destination pool deck were all recently redesigned and the guest rooms now have a modern, carefree personality. I stayed in a guest room with that had a magnificent floor-to-ceiling window and balcony with a breath-taking view of Collins Ave. You must request the guest room with the corner view of Collins.

If you like being outdoors, their custom double-sided cabanas offer a poolside retreat. The expanded pool deck leading to the restaurant has lounging areas and a communal table for outdoor entertainment. A hidden bar is nestled between the pool area and restaurant where guests can enjoy signature tequila infused cocktails while basking in the sun.
Their newly launched Mexican-inspired restaurant, Agaveros Cantina offers delicious traditional specialties, “elote fritters”, fusion tacos, and Mexican pizza with the chef’s signature flair and more than 100 tequilas and mezcals imported from Mexico.

Offering their revolutionary ‘Five Feet to Fitness’ wellness initiative, this in-room wellness concept makes it more convenient for guests to maintain their routines while traveling. The two renovated rooms have eleven different types of state-of-the-art fitness equipment and accessories. Some guest rooms feature meditation chairs, blackout shades, and a selection of protein and hydration beverages as part of restorative health.
The Gates also provides custom branded bicycles for guests to explore South Beach, conveniently stored in the lobby area by Gates branded racks.
