I spent last week at the recently held Israel Tech Week in Miami. I left with a clearer picture of where artificial intelligence is heading than I’ve gotten from any conference, podcast, or industry newsletter all year.
The event took place at The LAB Miami in Wynwood, drew more than 1,500 attendees, and brought in hundreds of founders and investors from Israel. Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava opened the proceedings. But what stayed with me wasn’t any single panel or keynote. It was watching Miami step fully into a role it has been quietly building toward for years.
This city is becoming the bridge between Israeli innovation, Latin American capital, and the U.S. market — and it is doing so with intention. Israel has earned the “Startup Nation” designation for good reason, and more than 400 Israeli companies already call Florida home, many of them in Miami-Dade. When that level of technical talent meets Miami’s expanding investor base and its deep, historic ties to Latin America, the result is something genuinely distinct. An event of this caliber does not land here by accident. It lands because the money, the talent, and the ambition are already here.
The thread running through it all was AI — but not the AI most people are tired of hearing about.
The Israeli approach to artificial intelligence is markedly different from what dominates the conversation in Silicon Valley. These founders are not building AI to impress other technologists. They are building AI that solves one specific, painful, expensive problem — and then gets out of the way. The focus is on measurable outcomes, not momentum or narrative.
The most striking example I encountered was a company called xREI.co, which uses AI to prequalify entire residential real estate markets and surface investment opportunities in seconds. They have automated deal screening — historically the slowest, most labor-intensive phase of real estate investing, one that has traditionally required hours of expert analysis. I sat down with their founder, Itai, at The LAB Wynwood, and one thing became unmistakably clear: the next wave of AI is not chatbots. It is vertical AI embedded so deeply into a single industry that it makes the old way of working feel not just slow, but indefensible.
That theme surfaced everywhere. Cybersecurity founders demonstrated AI that detects and responds to threats in real time, allowing security teams to stay ahead of attacks rather than perpetually react to them. PropTech founders showcased tools that simplify financing and building management for operators long bogged down by friction. Health tech founders presented AI that handles administrative tasks in clinical settings — not to replace staff, but to give them back time with patients. In every case, the pattern was identical: remove the friction, elevate the human.
For Latino business owners, this matters more than it might appear. The Israeli model — lean, focused, industry-specific AI tools built to solve real problems — is precisely the kind of opportunity our community can act on right now. You do not need to be a technology company to benefit from this. You need to understand what is possible and be willing to move.
The fact that all of this is unfolding in Miami — not New York, not San Francisco — is not a footnote. It is the story. The bridge between global innovation and our community is being built in our own backyard. The businesses that thrive over the next five years will not be those that tracked AI from a distance. They will be the ones who got in early, got specific, and got to work.
