There are exhibitions you take in with your eyes, and others you feel with your entire body. “From the Heart to the Hands: Dolce&Gabbana,” presented at the Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami (ICA Miami), belongs to the latter category: an immersive experience where fashion ceases to be surface and becomes memory, identity, and an artisanal gesture.

After a triumphant run through Milan, Rome, and Paris, this exhibition arrives in the United States for the first time and finds a natural setting in the Miami Design District. It is no coincidence: Miami is a city where excess converses with sophistication, where tradition is reinvented through a contemporary lens. It is precisely at that crossroads that the creative universe of Dolce & Gabbana is situated.

A declaration of love for Italian Culture.

Curated by renowned fashion historian Florence Müller, the exhibition brings together more than 300 pieces—between historic creations and recent designs—and proposes a multisensory journey that reveals the creative process “from the heart to the hands.” That is, from emotional intuition to manual execution, meticulous and profoundly human.

The experience unfolds across a series of immersive galleries where art, architecture, folklore, opera, ballet, and craftsmanship converge. Each space functions as a chapter celebrating Italian culture in all its forms: from regional topography and popular traditions to the eternal spirit of la dolce vita. Here, fashion is not trend—it is cultural language.

Fashion, art, and contemporary dialogue.

One of the exhibition’s greatest strengths is its conversation with contemporary art. Works by artists such as Quayola, Alberto Maria Colombo, Obvious, Vittorio Bonapace, and Felice Limosani engage with Dolce&Gabbana’s designs, underscoring the house’s position at the intersection of fashion, art, and Italian craftsmanship. The result is a dynamic exchange that enriches the visitor experience and expands the traditional boundaries of fashion as a discipline.

A brief historical look.

Founded in 1984 by Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, the Dolce&Gabbana house quickly established itself as one of the most influential names in international luxury. From the beginning, both designers have championed a vision deeply rooted in Italian identity, exalting sensuality, theatricality, and the value of what is made by hand. Their Alta Moda creations—true wearable works of art—are at the heart of this exhibition and living proof that craftsmanship remains an act of cultural resistance in the era of mass production.

Hay exposiciones que se recorren con la mirada, y otras que se sienten con el cuerpo entero. “From the Heart to the Hands: Dolce&Gabbana”, presentada en el Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami (ICA Miami), pertenece a esta segunda categoría: una experiencia inmersiva donde la moda deja de ser superficie para convertirse en memoria, identidad y gesto artesanal.

Tras un recorrido triunfal por Milán, Roma y París, esta muestra llega por primera vez a Estados Unidos y encuentra en el Miami Design District un escenario natural. No es casual: Miami es una ciudad donde el exceso dialoga con la sofisticación; donde la tradición se reinventa desde una mirada contemporánea. En ese cruce exacto se sitúa el universo creativo de Dolce & Gabbana.

Una declaración de amor a la italianidad.

Curada por la reconocida historiadora de la moda Florence Müller, la exposición reúne más de 300 piezas —entre creaciones históricas y diseños recientes— y propone un viaje multisensorial que revela el proceso creativo “del corazón a las manos”. Es decir, desde la intuición emocional hasta la ejecución manual, minuciosa y profundamente humana.

El recorrido se despliega en una serie de salas inmersivas donde convergen arte, arquitectura, folclore, ópera, ballet y artesanía.
