He won the first case establishing that the Ford Pinto fuel system was defective — a landmark verdict that reshaped automobile safety worldwide. He served as national co-lead counsel in the Ford-Firestone multidistrict litigation, ultimately leading to the recall of 40 million tires. And he led the case on behalf of victims from nine nations lost in the 1996 crash of AeroPeru Flight 603 against Boeing Corporation.
