Galan, cuéntenos ¿Cómo y dónde fueron sus inicios?
En Cuba, recuerdo que fue una infancia bastante linda y adquirí una gran educación trasmitida por mi familia. El respeto y dedicación a la medicina fueron inculcados por mis padres y familiares desde la cuna.
De niño siempre sentí ese amor al prójimo, de poder ayudar, y materialicé ese sueño cuando me gradué en el 2004 de medico general.
Aquí en los Estados Unidos, mis primeros pasos en la salud fueron en la enfermería, una profesión donde tu te le entregas al paciente 100% con mucha dedicación y humildad. Estudié en Miami, realice una maestría avanzada en medicina familiar y posteriormente hice mi doctorado en la Universidad Central de Ashdod.
¿Por qué cambio a la medicina estética?
Estaba haciendo una residencia en hematología y oncología en el Memorial Hospital, pero llegó un momento que me sentí deprimido, sometido a mucho estrés, entonces tuve que decidir que hacer, si continuar o parar. Un día platicando con una amiga, me sugirió de trabajar la especialidad de antienvejecimiento.
Como yo ya había trabajado con remplazo hormonal en años anteriores, y el antienvejecimiento junto a la estética van tomados de la mano, decidí sacar mis certificaciones de antienvejecimiento y estética, y posteriormente hice los Boards en estas dos especialidades.
Lo más lindo es que todo se fue dando y lo pacientes tuvieron mucha confianza en mi.
¿Y la estética es lo que mas te apasiona?
Si yo pienso que cambiar el estilo de una persona y que tengan un resultado final positivo es lo mas fundamental e importante en mi vida.
No te imaginas cuanto yo disfruto una sonrisa de agradecimiento, y que me digan “me cambiaste la vida”, ¡eso me hace súper feliz!
¿Y ves muchos cambios favorables con el reemplazo hormonal?
Es un tratamiento que ha revolucionado todo. Hoy el remplazo hormonal se hace en pacientes de todas las edades. Sin lugar a dudas, el procedimiento es maravilloso por todos lo cambios que se ven en el paciente y la capacidad que te da para poder disfrutar de una vida saludable.
¿Quiénes no se lo pueden poner?
Esta contraindicado en el caso de hombres que tengan una hiperplasia de próstata o cáncer de la glándula prostática, y en la mujer, en pacientes con cáncer endometrio o cáncer de mama, o que estén en tratamiento de quimioterapia o radio terapia. Se debe de realizar una evaluación completa al paciente antes de proceder con terapia hormonal.
¿Tu vez la estética de manera holística?
Para mi la belleza interior es tan importante como la belleza física exterior.
Yo siempre enfoco los pacientes en 3 etapas: biológica-psicológica-social. Si no ves al individúo con ese equilibrio, esa persona no está saludable. Yo quiero que el paciente tenga salud para hacer esos cambios que desea.
Yo no tomo pacientes por hacerlos, yo hago procedimientos que el paciente avale y nunca vendo un procedimiento por vender.
¿Supongo que te llegan mucha gente pidiendo cosas exageradas, verdad? ¿Qué les dice?
Eso me pasa a menudo cuando va un paciente por ejemplo pidiendo un aumento de labios y no necesita una jeringuilla mas de ácido hialurónico. Y yo se que, si le pongo una inyección más, voy a romper la simetría y anatomía del labio y no se va a ver natural. Explicándoles con paciencia y respeto, el paciente cambia de idea y te agradece el consejo que le das.
¿Llegan muchas personas con trabajos mal hechos en la cara y te piden que se los arregles?
Si, esta pasando porque las personas se quieren ver bellas y en su afán de un procedimiento rápido o económico, muchas veces desconocen la naturaleza del medicamento que van a utilizar y se convierten en víctimas de procedimientos médicos deficientes.
Hoy en día la población no disfruta de un conocimiento educativo o cultural de un procedimiento estético o de antienvejecimiento, y esto es lo primero negativo para que no se obtengan buenos resultados.
Hemos olvidado que envejecer es un proceso fisiológico inherente a la vida de todo ser humano, todos queremos vernos jóvenes y erradicar arrugas o líneas de expresión, por citar algunos casos. Desafortunadamente, por lo menos el 70% de los pacientes que vienen a mi consulta cuentan que no saben que producto utilizaron para llevar a cabo un procedimiento médico . En mi caso, yo les enseño cada producto a utilizar, fecha de vencimiento y cualquier otra información importante.
Educar a los pacientes es mi razón de trabajo y vida . Lo que bien se aprende nunca se olvida.
¿En algunas consultas, tratan de vender procedimientos que no son necesarios, eso es ético?
Yo no vendo por vender, yo oriento al paciente a realizarse el procedimiento que requiere. El lema de mi práctica es confianza y comunicación; juntos elaboramos un plan de acción que nos guía a un único objetivo: Resultados Positivos!

¿En que más marcas la diferencia?
Yo no trabajo por cifras numéricas. Yo estudio y me tomo el tiempo necesario con cada paciente. Yo no ejerzo una medicina mercantilista, yo ejecuto una medicina humanitaria. En mi práctica, el paciente y yo establecemos protocolos a seguir y juntos trabajamos de la mano y en equipo. Eso marca la diferencia!
¿Siempre atiendes a todos tus pacientes personalmente?
Si. En Cuba mi madre me dijo un día “cuando vayas hacer algo, hazlo lo mejor posible, no para quedar bien con nadie sino para quedar bien contigo mismo”. Ese lema forma parte de mi vida .
La verdad que tengo un excelente equipo de trabajo, pero igual me gusta atender a los pacientes personalmente. En mi consulta yo soy músico, poeta y loco (jeje,je) y eso realmente hace la diferencia y el paciente lo nota y te lo agradece, desde la elaboración de un café, hasta una extracción de sangre, no tengo problemas con eso.
El paciente viene por mi, yo quiero que sea atendido y recibido como se lo merece, y eso, desafortunadamente no se encuentra en todas las oficinas médicas.
¿Qué procedimiento de vanguardia realmente funciona?
El sistema de microagujas PiXel8-RF me gusta mucho. Es una máquina que suministra energía de RF directamente a las capas de tejido epidérmico, dérmico y subdérmico con el fin de calentar y estimular el colágeno ( se puede utilizar para innumerables procedimientos )
Yo trabajo con todo tipo de laser. Todo funciona mientras que lo usas sea de manera consciente y adecuada. Me gustan y disfruto de tantos procedimientos …
¿Como haces el PRP, el renombrado facial vampiro?
El problema con el PRP es que hay consultas que no lo hacen de manera responsable, no utilizan los tubos adecuados y no se centrifuga la sangre en una centrifugadora específicamente diseñada para obtener un verdadero plasma enriquecido en plaquetas.
A mi me apasiona trabajar con PRP. Lo utilizo para mejorar la restauración de cabello, en el sexo masculino para tratamiento en la disfunción eréctil (P-shot), y en la mujer O-shot para mejorar el orgasmo femenino y problemas de incontinencia urinaria. Son increíbles los cambios positivos que se hacen con PRP.
¿Cuáles servicios tienen en su consulta?

Viajo frecuentemente, uno de los lugares agendados ya son las cataratas de Iguazú y otro sin lugar a dudas el continente asiático, Tailandia ¡la cultura tailandesa me fascina!

-Dr. Galan, tell us how and where did he begin?
In Cuba, I remember that it was a pretty beautiful childhood and I acquired a great education transmitted by my family. Respect and dedication to medicine were instilled by my parents and family from the cradle.
As a child I always felt that love for others, of being able to help, and I materialized that dream when I graduated from general practitioner in 2004.
Here in the United States, my first steps in health were in nursing, a profession where you give yourself 100% to the patient with great dedication and humility. I studied in Miami, did an advanced master’s degree in family medicine, and later did my doctorate at Central Ashdod University.
– Why did I switch to aesthetic medicine?
I was doing a residency in hematology and oncology at Memorial Hospital, but there came a time when I felt depressed, under a lot of stress, so I had to decide what to do, whether to continue or stop. One day talking with a friend, she suggested that I work in the anti-aging specialty.
As I had already worked with hormone replacement in previous years, and anti-aging and aesthetics go hand in hand, I decided to get my anti-aging and aesthetics certifications, and later I did the Boards in these two specialties.
The most beautiful thing is that everything happened and the patients had a lot of confidence in me.
And aesthetics is what you are most passionate about?
If I think that changing a person’s style and having a positive end result is the most fundamental and important thing in my life.
You can’t imagine how much I enjoy a grateful smile, and being told “you changed my life”, that makes me super happy!
And do you see a lot of favorable changes with hormone replacement?
It is a treatment that has revolutionized everything. Today hormone replacement is done in patients of all ages. Without a doubt, the procedure is wonderful for all the changes that are seen in the patient and the ability it gives you to enjoy a healthy life.
Who can not wear it?
It is contraindicated in the case of men who have prostate hyperplasia or cancer of the prostate gland, and in women, in patients with endometrial cancer or breast cancer, or who are undergoing chemotherapy or radio therapy. A complete evaluation of the patient should be performed before proceeding with hormonal therapy.
Do you see aesthetics holistically?
Inner beauty is as important to me as outer physical beauty.
I always approach patients in 3 stages: biological-psychological-social. If you don’t see the individual with that balance, that person is not healthy. I want the patient to be healthy to make those changes that he wants.
I do not take patients to do them, I do procedures that the patient endorses and I never sell a procedure to sell.
I suppose a lot of people come to you asking for exaggerated things, right? What does it tell them?
That happens to me often when a patient goes for example asking for a lip augmentation and does not need another syringe of hyaluronic acid. And I know that if I give it one more injection, I will break the symmetry and anatomy of the lip and it will not look natural. Explaining them with patience and respect, the patient changes his mind and thanks you for the advice you give him.
Do many people come with poorly done jobs on their faces and ask you to fix it?
Yes, it is happening because people want to look beautiful and in their desire for a quick or inexpensive procedure, many times they do not know the nature of the medicine they are going to use and they become victims of poor medical procedures.
Today the population does not enjoy an educational or cultural knowledge of an aesthetic or anti-aging procedure, and this is the first negative so that good results are not obtained.
We have forgotten that aging is a physiological process inherent in the life of every human being, we all want to look young and eradicate wrinkles or fine lines, to name a few cases. Unfortunately, at least 70% of the patients who come to my office say that they do not know what product they used to take r perform a medical procedure. In my case, I show them each product to use, expiration date and any other important information. Educating patients is my reason for work and life. What is learned well is never forgotten.
In some consultations, they try to sell procedures that are not necessary, is that ethical?
I do not sell to sell, I guide the patient to perform the procedure he requires. The motto of my practice is trust and communication; Together we develop an action plan that guides us to a single objective: Positive Results!
And that makes the difference!
How else do you make the difference?
I do not work by numerical figures. I study and take the necessary time with each patient. I do not practice mercantile medicine, I practice humanitarian medicine. In my practice, the patient and I establish protocols to follow and together we work hand in hand and as a team. That makes the difference!
Do you always see all your patients personally?
Yes. In Cuba my mother told me one day “when you go do something, do your best, not to look good with anyone but to look good with yourself.” That motto is part of my life.
The truth is that I have an excellent work team, but I still like to personally attend to patients. In my office I am a musician, poet and crazy (hehe, heh) and that really makes a difference and the patient notices it and thanks you, from making a coffee to having a blood draw, I have no problems with that.
The patient comes for me, I want him to be treated and received as he deserves, and that, unfortunately, is not found in all medical offices.
What state-of-the-art procedure really works?
I really like the PiXel8-RF microneedle system. It is a machine that delivers RF energy directly to the epidermal, dermal and subdermal tissue layers in order to heat and stimulate collagen (it can be used for countless procedures)

How do you do PRP, the renowned vampire facial?
The problem with PRP is that there are clinics that do not do it responsibly, do not use the proper tubes, and do not centrifuge the blood in a centrifuge specifically designed to obtain true platelet-enriched plasma.
I am passionate about working with PRP. I use it to improve hair restoration, in males to treat erectile dysfunction (P-shot), and in women O-shot to improve female orgasm and urinary incontinence problems. The positive changes that are made with PRP are incredible.

I travel frequently, one of the scheduled places is the Iguazu Falls and another is undoubtedly the Asian continent, Thailand, Thai culture fascinates me!
