AMERICAN DOG HEROES

Lucca MiracLe MiLitary Dog

On Memorial Day and every day let’s honor and remember all the dogs who are used as sacrificial lambs to protect human beings for Uncle Sam. They are experimented on in labs for tobacco and big pharma to protect people who make unhealthy choices not to mention cleaning products. Actress Kim Bassinger has been creating awareness by narrating under cover videos shot in unnecessary labs showing the torture by psychologists doing research. I wonder if these non-human souls have a dog. It amazes me how some dogs
are police officers and soldiers at war and others are sold from our government shelters to Bunchers who in turn sell these shelter dogs to schools and labs for research. This is outdated technology yet your taxes are still paying to torture man’s best friend and heroes.
There are so many stories of one’s dog that has saved their owners lives from alerting them to a fire to preventing a diabetic episode. Dogs who serve in the war also return with amputated limbs after saving hundreds of soldiers. Americans should treat dogs with more
respect and dignity? No wonder many people disrespect dogs Uncle Sam is not setting a good example. Definitely should stop the gassing of shelter dogs to death with your tax dollars. Have a say in what you pay. Some people just don’t care their pet gets old and their ready to dump them off like a tattered stuffed animal. No heart no soul. It’s ironic that people whose jobs are to experiment
on dogs think that what they are doing is ethical and that dogs do not have emotional intelligence yet they test them to see if products are safe for humans and due to their intelligence and special senses they are trained for war. Hypocritical!
There are thousands of service dogs in the military since the Revolutionary War. They helped kill rats in the trenches. I like rats too by the way. They serve nationally and on foreign grounds. Dutch and German Shepherds as well as Belgian Malinois have been used due to their high level of intelligence, loyalty, aggressiveness and athletic nature. They are messengers, scouts, sentries, and mine detectors. They serve the US Marine Corps in the ongoing battle against terrorism. From 1942 until ten years ago many dogs were
killed in the line of duty, most were euthanized after their service due to being aggressive or carrying a disease or simply Uncle Sam just left them behind as collateral damage. Now that I have found out President Clinton has respect for dogs I hope my Mom votes for the Clintons. Did you know that in 2000 President Bill Clinton signed a new law whereby both retired military soldiers and civilians
had the opportunity to adopt the very service dogs that had been so faithful during war? For many people, that new law created dramatic change in the way that service dogs were viewed. Since that time, several organizations have been founded to assist in bringing dogs back to US soil such as the Military Working Dog Team Support Association or MWDTSA and the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals or SPCA. All the dogs who have served in the US military should be honored for their expertise and devotion. Lucca a miracle dog who at age two completed training to become a search dog. Lucca at age five was working with
Corporal Juan Rodriguez in Afghanistan, she lead more than 400 patrols. In her final mission in 2013 while out on patrol walking ahead to search for explosives a device went off causing severe burns to her chest and her front leg had to be amputated.
Lucca still displayed her loyalty by running back to Rodriguez to protect him and the other Marines. Lucca miraculously recovered and now at age eight resides with her first handler and his family enjoying a pampered pooch lifestyle spa and all. Florida’s former Governor Christ made the state of Florida the first state in the country to have K9 Veterans Day on March 13th to honor our great
“War Dogs”.

AN AMERICAN WAR DOG
I am an American war dog
I obey orders from my brave handler
My job is to find, save, help and comfort
I try to do the best that I can
Being faithful is everything to me
Staying alert, I must always be
When my name is called out
Proudly I stand to serve with love
I so try to do what is asked of me
If I die on duty, please remember
I am an American war dog
And my brave handler is my best friend
God gave me a life to love and give
And to be there when there is need
The time may come for my duty to end
And I will proudly be a K9 Corp Veteran
It will be hard for me to stop serving
I’ll want to continue, but know I cannot
Remember those like me who don’t go to war
Many have duties that are so very important
I am an American war dog
And I have the best friend in the world
