Google’s new parent company, Alphabet, is working to spread the Internet to regions in the world that
still don’t have access. Using high-flying balloons, the company aims to beam Wi-Fi connections to hard-
to-reach locations across the planet. The project will begin testing these solar- and battery-powered
balloons in Indonesia before launching commercially. With roughly 4 billion people around the world
still lacking Internet access, this could definitely be a game-changer.
